Top menu vs sidebar

Posted on by

These days, no business should go without its own website. Right now it is the most powerful tool by which it can reach people and potential customers. Refusing to create a website for a business might be a stubborn move that can be costly. It is also a sure thing that your competition would have its own web presence, so you must not be left behind.

Having the Right Website

But you should keep in mind though that it is not enough that you should just have your own site. It should be the right one for your business as well. It should be constructed in such a way that it would fit your business perfectly.

In order for you to have the right website for your business, you must study your potential clients first.  Are they young? Are your target clients professionals? You have to know the people that are your potential clients and you must create your website so that it would cater to their needs. If you design your website in a way that would appeal to younger users for example, yet your target clients are older people then you might have a problem there. Your potential clients might not see you as the company that they want to deal with.

Making Your Site User Friendly

One of the things that you should be aiming for is to have your site to be as user friendly as it possibly can be.  You need to place menus where users would be able to see them clearly and use them without any problems. Menus are important because it gives the users the chance to go through the site on their own. They can just look for whatever it is that they want and go straight there instead of having to go through the whole website.

Top Menu Vs Sidebar

When creating a menu for your site, you would have the option of choosing between placing it on the top or on the side. Both options would have advantages and disadvantages. Using the top placement for example, it would make it easier for the user to see the options. There is little chance that they would miss it. The problem is that the choices can be limited since putting in too many options would make it look cluttered. The sidebar menu option however would put more options available but it is not as easily visible.
